Olympic week closing ceremony
Yesterday it was the Carlton School Olympics closing ceremony. At first I felt pretty sad but happy because then I wouldn't have to get sore muscles and a pulled hamstring again. It had been an awesome adventure and was a pretty sore one at times but I think that it was worth it. After lunch time we all had to line up, go into the hall and go into our house groups. We had Phillipa Baker Hogan, a gold medalist in the 1992's hand out our medals. When she came in she talked to us all about persisting and her Olympics life. Mrs Larsen called out the bronze, silver and gold medalist for each sport. I got a gold medal for soccer, hockey and a silver for long distance.

They wondered where they were. Another couple of hours later they still could not find a way out of there and it started to get a bit mysterious and scary. The Museum
Today Room's 15 and 6 went for a bus trip to the museum. When we got out of the bus we went inside and got split into two groups, one group went to see the cosmodome and the other group went with Awhina to watch a slide show about the stars and what people did in the olden days to celebrate Matariki. I went into the cosmodome first. When we got there we had to get our shoes off and then go in. When we got inside we sat down on the cushions and looked up at the roof. A cosmodome is a huge blown up tent sort of thing which you get a projector put it in there and you can see pictures of what ever is in the computer screen. We saw lots and lots of stars and learnt some stories about constellations. The guy that was inside with us told us a story about Orion's belt and the scorpion which are both constellations. Then we had to hop out and go with Awhina into a different room. In the room were Awhina was there was also a projector but we didn't go in a cosmodome. First she took us through a slide show of some of the stars names like Matariki and Puanga. Then she showed us some pictures of what they used to do in the olden days to celebrate. We learnt about what the kids used to play with and what they did to get food. Once we finished the slide show we did a haka and sung a song.

They were all old drums that you had to hit your hand on the top of it and it would make a loud deep noise. We got to have a go on them after he told us what they did. Then we had to swap over with the P.E group. For P.E we played some games of monster ball which is when you put a big bouncy ball in the middle of a square and you have to try and throw your ball to hit the monster ball so it can roll into another persons square. Then we did some badminton with a buddy, which was my favourite part.

What: On Monday we went to Rutherford to do P.E and music. On Wednesday we went into the hall to learn how to draw a possum with Graham Braddock a famous artist. We did an Ikan test. We wrote a story with our buddy class about what they have done. I did a wordle about all of the conjunctions there are.

Now What: We have been making Picasso pictures I think I have done well at couloring in my face and neck. I want to play silent ball next week. I have been doing thinking about thinking for my goal and I think I have done pretty well at it.

Personification
Today in felts writing group we have been learning about personification. Here is some of my examples:
The wind shouted.
The car roared .
The felt screamed.
The stars winked to me.
The leaves whistled .
To do personification you have to compare something with something that a human would say/do.
