The Museum

Today Room's 15 and 6 went for a bus trip to the museum. When we got out of the bus we went inside and got split into two groups, one group went to see the cosmodome and the other group went with Awhina to watch a slide show about the stars and what people did in the olden days to celebrate Matariki. I went into the cosmodome first. When we got there we had to get our shoes off and then go in. When we got inside we sat down on the cushions and looked up at the roof. A cosmodome is a huge blown up tent sort of thing which you get a projector put it in there and you can see pictures of what ever is in the computer screen. We saw lots and lots of stars and learnt some stories about constellations. The guy that was inside with us told us a story about Orion's belt and the scorpion which are both constellations. Then we had to hop out and go with Awhina into a different room. In the room were Awhina was there was also a projector but we didn't go in a cosmodome. First she took us through a slide show of some of the stars names like Matariki and Puanga. Then she showed us some pictures of what they used to do in the olden days to celebrate. We learnt about what the kids used to play with and what they did to get food. Once we finished the slide show we did a haka and sung a song.
