Beach Safety

Last week Room 4, 5, 6 and 15 went to Castlecliff Beach. We went there so we could learn some rules about lifeguarding and spoting rips which is a bit of calm water. First we sat down and the life guards introduced themselves and told us what club they come from and how long they have been lifeguarding. We watched a video and learnt the 10 rules. At play time we all headed out to the park and played on the playground. After lunch we got our togs on and played some games and went in the water but in the end we wernt allowed to have a free play, the water was too rough.

What: On Thursday we went to Putiki Marae. We played a game, went on the Waka and made some yummy fried bread. On Tuesday we went to the hall to see a police officer called Constable Grey and he told us some interesting facts about what he does. On Wednesday we went to WIS for the Senior School Swimming Sports. Today we did a maths test, a spelling test and shared our ideas for what we could do to our class to give it the WOW factor.

So What: I finished all my homework and learnt how far the pepper spray goes which is about 5 meters.

PMI about Rules/Laws

Plus:
The good thing about rules is that they keep every thing in place because if there were no rules then maybe our class room would be all messy and every thing would be like of the movie Kindergarten Cop. It makes the world a better place.

Minus:
There is one bad thing is that some bad people dont follow the rules and laws like drink driving.

Interesting:
The interesting thing is that some people don't follow the rules.

Purple Cake Day

Purple Cake Day celebrates the children in our lives. This year we donated some money to the kids in Nepal because about 101 million kids around the world and Nepal don't have enough money to pay to go to school.

For Purple Cake Day we went to our buddy's class, got our buddy's and drew a picture on a bit of paper with our fingers and purple paint. I drew a house a tree and my buddy drew some butterflies. After we finished we all washed our hands and ate a yummy yummy treats that Mrs Larsen made us, purple cupcakes.

Spirit day

Last week it was spirit day and we had to dress up as our hero. I could not wait until it was the day because I wanted to show everybody my David Beckham shirt that I have. I was going to dress up as Christiano Ronaldo but I couldn't find my shirt. When I got there I saw lots and lots of people all dressed up. Brandin dressed up as a army engineer and Mrs Whitwell dressed up as Evil Kenevil.

Rules And Laws - Whats The Difference?

A rule is something made by a group of people that we have to follow and not enforced by the police.

A law is something that if you break it you go to court and a judge or jury would decide the consequence.

The difference between a law and a rule is that laws are enforced by the police and  they are legal rules . If you break a law you can go to court and a jury or a judge decides what action will be taken. There are rules and regulations that we need to follow.

If the law about drink driving was not made then I think that  more people would be drinking and driving then many more people would be dying and getting injured.
